A Hidden Gem

Tucked away inside the Louisville Public Library is a truly unique space — one thoughtfully designed with the needs of individuals with dementia, autism, learning disabilities, and sensory processing disorders in mind. Yet, it remains a welcoming place for everyone.

The Wiseman Discovery Center sensory room features equipment and toys that engage or soothe the senses through fiber optics, interactive sounds, and a variety of tactile experiences.

Graciously donated by Aaron and Heather Wiseman, proud Louisville residents and dedicated community members, the Center reflects their deep commitment — along with their children, Adalena, Connor, and Camden — to creating a space where individuals of all abilities can explore, learn, and thrive.

Built on the values of inclusion, sensory play, and therapeutic growth, the Wiseman Discovery Center offers everyone the chance to connect meaningfully with their environment.

The Center stands as a testament to the Wiseman family’s vision: a community where everyone feels empowered, valued, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.

Pictured here in the Wiseman Discovery Center is Camden Wiseman and his 9-month-old Cane Corso service dog, Matteo. Trained by Whitney at Milligan Valley K9 Academy, Matteo now helps Camden — who has been diagnosed with CMT4C — avoid tripping hazards. In time, Matteo will also be trained to retrieve dropped items, open handicap-accessible doors, and assist with pulling a wheelchair.
