According to Brock Hutchison, Director of the Louisville Public Library, “This is just another way that the City and Library are teaming up to provide free outdoor activity to local residents.” In the fall of 2021, the Library began loaning out pickleball equipment to adult cardholders for use at the City’s new courts at Aljancic Park on Broad Street. “I think our neighbors would love to try either sport, and now they can do that by borrowing the equipment for free,” added Thomas Pukys, Louisville City Manager. “Whether you’re a casual player or skater, or you want to make sure the sport is for you before you invest, borrowing equipment at least to start, is a smart move.”
Adult cardholders are welcome to check out as many as five pairs of skates, for up to a week. Those who check out skates will be required to sign a waiver. No renewals or holds are permitted; skates should be returned to the front desk of the Library, and overdue fines are 50 cents per pair of skates per day.
