Ohio Pioneers Programs

Dr. Ray Heisey and Kenneth Smith each presented a program during the fall of 2005 for Louisville Public Library on a theme of "Ohio Pioneers."

Peggy Cottrell has created a 4-minute video showcasing Louisville, Ohio and has made it available to view on YouTube.

Constitution Week

Constitution Week takes place each September with a full slate of community activities. The celebration centers around Constitution Day, September 17.

Jim Heddleson, WWII Veteran, M.I.A., Hero, Honored at the Library

In November of 2000, Post Commander Larry Rhea of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7490 and Ladies Auxiliary officiated at a ceremony to honor Louisville resident Jim Heddleson. Mr. Heddleson was “awarded the Croix du Combatant Medal by the French Government for his heroic participation in the French Resistance during WWII.” In honor of Mr. Heddleson's service to his country, during the month of January 2007, the library will display artifacts and documents from his personal collection.

World War I Vets Honored

The Louisville Public Library has on display approximately 125 photographs of World War I veterans from the Louisville area. These men and women were included in the book Honor Roll of Ohio 1917-1918, Stark County Edition.

Lest We Forget: Louisville Remembers WWII

As a tribute to those who experienced the Second World War, Louisville Public Library will conduct a special program on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2006, from 9:30 am until 12:00 pm.
