Constitution Week Events @ the Louisville Public Library

The Louisville Public Library is preparing for Constitution Week, as is the rest of the town of Louisville. There are many events and activities for the whole family reflecting the patriotic theme of Constitution Week @ the Louisville Public Library.

The library will present Mr. Ken Smith as he shares with us “Louisville the Way it Was” during Constitution Week. His program is scheduled for September 11, 2006 at 7 pm. The program will be held at the Louisville Public Library, 700 Lincoln Avenue.

Along with The Herald the Library is sponsoring a Hot Air Balloon coloring contest. The picture is featured in this issue of The Herald, and there will be two age groups that will be judged. Kindergarten through second grade will be the first age category and third grade thru the fifth grade will be the other. Entries will be judged on creativity and skill. Each age group will receive one Grand Prize and all entries will be hung on display at the library.

Are you good at finding facts? If so there will be a scavenger hunt for those ages 12 and up. The scavenger hunt will consist of a group of Constitution- based questions for which you will have to use the library resources to find the answers. We ask all participates to be creative with their answers, and sorry no help from the library staff. “We are hoping that the scavenger hunt will allow kids the opportunity to use parts of the library with which they are unfamiliar” stated Emily Callan, Public Relations Specialist for the library. Prizes will be given away along with a gift certificates from Grinders Above and Beyond and Cinemark Theaters in Carnation Mall.

Assistant Director, Mrs. Digianantonio is working on a “Founding Mothers and Fathers” display that will consist of books, movies and material with a historic feel. And for all those jigsaw puzzle lovers out there, we will have a patriotic themed puzzle that can be worked on as you make your way through the Library.

These events will start on September 9 and run through Constitution Week. All winners will be notified by phone on September 17. If there are any questions regarding any of the activities please contact Emily Callan at 330.875.1696.
