Library Board Adopts New Policies

The Board of Trustees of Louisville Public Library has recently enacted several new policies that the Board knows will be welcomed by patrons.

The new policies include:

  • Institution of Saturday house of service during the summer months from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (Previously the library was closed on Saturdays during the summer.)
  • Removal of age restrictions for issuing library cards. (Previously no one under the age of five was issued a card.)
  • Approval of alternate forms of identification in lieu of a patron's library card, e.g. dirver's license. (Previously, the library card was required in order to borrow materials).
  • Limit of 10 DVDs at checkout (Previously, the limit was 5.)
  • Approval of a second renewal on items, excluding some audiovisual items. (Previously patrons were allowed one renewal.)

We know our patrons will benefit from these new patron service policies.
