Medieval Fair Attracts Many Visitors

On July 16, 2005, the rattle of armor and the cries of the heralds were heard in Louisville as the 2005 Summer Reading Club program, "Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds" wrapped up with a medieval fair.

Hot weather and a threat of rain did little to keep away Louisville Lords and Ladies as they made their way to the library "green" for a day of medieval fun and games. The library's Medieval Fair attracted over 200 participants who took part in games, watched demonstrations of arts and crafts and tried on medieval garb.

One of the highlights of the day was a demonstration of medieval foot combat by members of the Marche of Alderford, the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The SCA lords and ladies also showed off their craftmanship and helped children constuct bookmarks.

Librarians Sandra Lang and Cathy Brown were pleased with the outcome of the library's medieval fair and are grateful for the community support for the event.
