Superintendent's Article - November 20, 2008

For John McCain, Barack Obama, and many other candidates and issues, the 2008 November General Election is over. However, Louisville City School District is still waiting for the final election results and will be waiting for some time. The results for Issue 56, a 2.8 mill bond issue for new and renovated schools, are still unknown. The issue currently leads by just 7 votes and there are over 500 paper and provisional ballots that have yet to be counted.  read more »

Superintendent's Article - October 30, 2008

This week I have invited our Curriculum Director, Mrs. Sherry Unger, to address the opportunities for children that will be provided by passage of ISSUE 56.

As we look at learning in the classroom, nothing can match the impact of a high quality teacher. We are very fortunate in Louisville to have an outstanding group of teachers and support personnel. These people give 110% every day to provide a positive educational experience for our students.  read more »

Louisville Schools are working hard to earn the confidence and financial support of the community. Our recent performance on the State and Local Report Card and the exceptional effort of all of our students is a great source of pride. Our older students are having an exceptional fall sports season and have excelled in academics as well. It has truly been a time to celebrate any number of wonderful accomplishments and experiences in our schools.  read more »

Athletics, cheerleading, band, speech/debate, drama, choir and other clubs and activities are a significant part of the education offered for the children who attend Louisville City Schools. Participating in these learning experiences and "life lessons" are an integral part of learning and growing. The district and community can certainly be proud of our academic performance and the district's recent recognition as "Excellent with Distinction" by the Ohio Department of Education.  read more »

I think we all remember "Grade Cards" when we were in school. That was usually either a day to celebrate or a day when some consequence would befall us for our lack of effort or performance (I know I may have been grounded or lost TV privileges once or twice, at least). As a parent, I believe that report cards and grades are a very important measure of how well our children are learning, and in many cases how much effort is being put forth at school.  read more »

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the community for your support of our schools during my tenure as Superintendent. It has been 15 years of opportunities and challenges for our schools. We have a wonderful school system here in Louisville. Do not take it for granted. Please continue to support your local schools.

There are currently other leadership changes taking place in our schools. High School Principal Mrs.  read more »

I want to congratulate our Transportation Director Jack Friesner and Mechanics Bill Roosa and Tony Shaheen. During the bus inspection held on June 12th, one hundred percent of our buses were approved and stickered by the Ohio Department of Transportation as safe for transporting students. Each year our buses are inspected for safety, and our staff has had 100% successful passage for the past several years. This is a huge effort and a wonderful success again this year.  read more »

I want to thank everyone from the community, as well as the staff who recently attended the retirement celebration for me at Skyland Pines. It was a very special evening for my family and me. As I said at the dinner, I have met a lot of wonderful people over the course of 20 years in this district. The support for children here is tremendous. The support for our schools has been a positive thing over those years. And as I said at a recent Board of Education meeting, do not take for granted the many wonderful things that we provide in our schools.  read more »
